Let's Get Spreading!
Now that you're convinced that homemade is the way to go, let's dive into the process.
Chocolate spreads guidelines
Before the deliciously tested recipes, let’s talk about what should go into a chocolate spread:
- Your favorite good quality chocolate (milk, dark, or white). We recommend our DIY chocolate kits, they’re the best 😉
- Vegetable oil – we like to use coconut oil, or olive oil, but any vegetable oil can work.
- Fantastic option for flavor customization – grounded nuts or a nut butter, such as hazelnut butter, pecan butter and so on.
- A pinch of salt – also optional. Great for balancing the flavors.
To prepare your chocolate spread you’ll need to melt your chocolate ingredients, and blend with the other ingredients. Adjust the consistency by adding a bit more oil if needed, until you achieve your desired texture. Creamy, dreamy, chocolatey goodness!
When ready, jar it up: Transfer your homemade chocolate spread into a clean, airtight jar. Store in the pantry for a month (if it lasts that long!).
Some recipes use heavy cream in homemade chocolate spreads. It adds a great creamy texture to the spread, but then you should keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks.
